As I say in my seminars, there is no special wire series that is the “miracle” cure to correct crowded teeth. The magic is in the bracket. The bracket is the handle (with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd order moments of force) and, with the aid of the broad arch form of the wire, produce beautiful arches every time. I am currently employing the Optimim and Maestro brackets by Ortho Organizers with a Modified Roth Prescription. I attempt to keep a single inventory in my offices. I also employ a first molar band (Tempra by OO2) with an .022 slot, .045 gingival buccal tube, and molar power arm. Also on the lingual is an .036 lingual sheath with hooks. The buccal tubes are for labial appliances and the lingual sheaths are for lingual/palatal appliances. The hooks are for elastics if I want to hook power chain on the lingual. The second molar bands simply have an .022 slot and power arm. The power arms are for elastics and tie backs with metal ligatures. I have a rack of upper arch wires and a set of lower arch wires. In both racks, I have my wire series. I try to keep it systematic and simple for my assistants and myself. Also we take small elastic and bind each size of arch wire together. This way, if dropped, we are not spending a day with a micrometer!
